‘The new Tees Herts & Essex Border League takes cricket back to its roots in the Bishop’s Stortford area’

Promoting participation and enjoyment of cricket in the Bishop’s Stortford area is the driving force behind the new Tees Herts & Essex Border League.

The competition has replaced the Herts & Essex Cricket League, which folded in November after 26 years after the majority of clubs opted to break away.

The HECL had originally been formed in 1993 for clubs within a 15-mile radius of Hockerill Cricket Club, with just one division. It expanded to two divisions in 1996 and three in 1999 before eventually growing to six divisions, with a geographical shift being the result.
